
Kuljit Singh was born into a family of musicians in the UK, but emigrated to Australia at the age of one. At age four she was taught to recite sikh hymns. She learnt to play the harmonium at age six. Kuljit participated in regular congregational singing at Sikh Temples and started leading the singing at an early age. She became increasingly involved in singing, dancing and playing keyboard or harmonium at Indian concerts.

In 2002, Kuljit took her first step into the international modeling arena when she participated as Miss India New Zealand at the Miss India-Worldwide pageant. She performed songs from a Bollywood movie and also choreographed and then performed her own dance medley combining several Bollywood songs. Kuljit was a very popular contestant and attracted considerable media interest, subsequently conducting interviews for radio and television.

Kuljit is a keen poet, and writes her own lyrics. She collaborated with an Australian producer in 2003 producing expressive Fusion songs in English, but with strong Indian influences.
Kuljit is passionate about her singing. She is inspired by punjabi bhangra and religious music, bollywood hindi, techno, soul, pop and world music. She started working with Shaia in 2004.
